Dear Friend,

Welcome to Lost Art Cards and Designs.

You might find tiny bouquets on paper, pretty places, words of encouragement, the artwork of others, or a quote from a good book.

My hope is that you will find something that delights the eye of your heart and remains a part of you for a lifetime.

Sand Castle Dreams

Sand Castle Dreams

Sunshine, cool breezes, humidity, hot weather, rain, thunderstorms, white puffy clouds, picnics, camping, swimming....what could be a better escape than a week or even a day at the beach enjoying white, gray, or beige sand as it curls between your toes , covers your blanket, or flicks at your sunglasses while you are trying to find the sunscreen?  Yes.  Those days were meant to linger in, a way of putting aside all of our cares.  They help our grainy thoughts go from cool or warm gray tones to any color we choose as inspiration as new life is breathed into us and we wake up refreshed and ready to face anything that comes our way because of a new, and hopefully colorful, perspective.

Here is a card design that tries to communicate the simple fun we can have at the beach as we allow our imagination and dreams to take over and inspire us.   Thanks to Repeat Impressions for the challenging inspiration that helped me put my imagination on paper today.

Happy dreaming and many days filled with colorful inspiration.   Nearly killed me to cut my beautiful Renoir Seascapes paper to make this card, but I am glad I did.

Materials:

  • one 3.1/2 inch square white card stock
  • one 3.1/2 inch parchment vellum
  • one 3 inch piece of white high quality marker card stock
  • one slightly larger card stock square in a  coordinating color to make your artwork "pop!"
  • Copic or alcohol markers
  • Memento dye ink pads
  • Recollections water based markers, fine point
  • Twinkling H2O watercolor paints
  • Tim Holtz Tissue Tape, any pattern of your choosing
  • Scotch Scrapbook Tape and Scotch Vellum Tape
  • Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive
  • Pop Dots, small
  • Waxed twine from jewelry making section, or other embellishment of your choice
  • one beautiful piece of scrapbook background pattern paper or color card stock
  • one pre folded 5 x 7 white card stock card and envelope
  • Inkadinkado, Gallerie Vernissage rubber stamp
How:
  • Using Twinkling H2O's paint white card stock square in a muted background color.  Allow to dry.
  • On parchment vellum stamp off the sand castle stamp so that it gives an illusionary appearance, allow to dry or use a heat gun.
  • Color sand and water on vellum using alcohol markers.
  • Select color and cut card stock border piece.
  • Attach vellum square to darker card stock square.
  • Place 2 rows of Tim Holtz Tissue Tape at top and slightly beyond top of vellum square. ( I worked with tissue tape word placement so that it would communicate what I wanted)
  • Ink sand castle stamp with Memento Dye Ink and stamp image, allow to dry or use heat gun.
  • Color and shade darker stamped image using alcohol markers, allow to dry.
  • Place colored alcohol image onto vellum using Pop Dots to make it stand out.
  • Cut two small pieces of waxed twine and tie 3 knots in varying places, making center knot larger.
  • Using Scotch adhesive , attach twine to bottom left corner.
Send card to a friend or frame it and let it remind you to dream...........
