Dear Friend,

Welcome to Lost Art Cards and Designs.

You might find tiny bouquets on paper, pretty places, words of encouragement, the artwork of others, or a quote from a good book.

My hope is that you will find something that delights the eye of your heart and remains a part of you for a lifetime.

Inspiration..vacation

Dear Friends,

Packing it up, getting on a plane, going to visit our children and grandchildren for a week.  Looking forward to their fresh perspective on life, finding out what they are learning and doing at 4 and 1.5.   Simple walks, playing with toys on the floor, coloring, cutting out paper stuff, eating ice cream , hugs, water fights, hamburgers on the grill, and other fun sounds like my little bit of heaven on earth.

Until next post...

Destress and Unwind...Color

Hours to fill while waiting for your next appointment?  Alone in a hotel room while away for any reason?  Pack up some supplies and open the door for hours of relaxation, stress release and joy.
By the way folks,  This art form has proven health benefits .

One acrylic block, water brush, distress crayons, small ink cubes, colored pencils, markers....take your choice of color media ( I think that is the right terminology🙂) and you are ready for hours of enjoyment. Make sure you bring a lightweight craft mat so you don't ruin the surface of any desk you are using and begin.  Pre stamping images you haven't tried yet, make your own coloring book before leaving and  pack it in your suitcase.

The first picture shows a repeating stamped image to make a whimsical border overtop of a watercolor background.  The second picture was the beginning of a color experiment that I never completed.  I wanted to see what this pretty ranunculus would look like in a variety of colors and then make a card or frame a simple picture when done.

Stamps used:
Flower Fields, Stampendous
Outlines, Hampton Art

Sorry, I don't remember all of the color supplies I used to color the images.  These were my stress relief during radiation and chemotherapy last year when I was away from home for 6 weeks.

Delicate Layered Vellum Card

Delicate Vellum Overlayed Card
Pierced and Painted Overlayed Vellum Card

To make this card I stamped  a Penny Black, Inc. stamp with Memories White Dye Ink using my Misti and carefully dried it with a Darice Heat Gun. I traced each outline of the stamped image using a very fine Pergamano Stylus as well as a smaller sized Pergamano stylus on the back of the vellum.  *After the outline was traced I used  a White Generals Chalk Pencil to give a shaded look to each flower and leaf. For ease of embossing, use a sheet of wax paper on the back of your image before tracing and dip your stylus into softened wax. Your stylus should easily glide over the surface and help to prevent tearing.

* for those of you new to parchment vellum papercraft and want to explore further, I recommend checking into Pergamano Parchment Craft online.  That I am aware of there are no craft stores that carry anything even similar to what this company offers in the tools of the craft. They offer numerous instructional books and have some very beautiful patterns for tracing available as well as the multi-purpose metal grids.   If you do an Wikipedia search about parchment craft, you will learn it is a very old form of papercraft with quite a bit of interesting history involved.

To highlight the tracing and embossing I pierced around the image and also added some piercings in various places around the image using Pergamano Piercing Tools.  I followed the same two procedures on the Stampin Up sentiment, Thinking of You.

I again stamped the delicate vine in Ranger Potting Soil Archival Ink , drying it with the heat gun, then painting the flowers and leaves with Ranger Archival Ink in various colors for the under layer effect.

I attached the white vellum panel to the painted vellum using Clear Glue Dots behind each pierced flower center, then scored one edge and folded it to attach on a piece of white cardstock using
Scotch Vellum Tape.  I like this tape because it adheres transparently. Cutting the edge of both sheets of vellum and the white card stock using a Spellbinders Border Die and
Scalloped Provocraft Decorative Scissors, when all was attached,  I  added another piece of white card stock to the back, overtop the folded edges to complete the card.
